The flocks can be numbered in thousands and sometimes quite a few come to roost in my woods. I would like to shoot them to help local farmers.

Would I be acting within the terms of the general licence by doing so? I believe so but I want to stay legal.

Shooting legal advice

DAVID FROST

I see no problem with shooting corvids under general licence in the circumstances you describe.

Shooting them is one solution but as there seems to be a very large number it may not be the best.

Have you considered using a letterbox trap? Traps work all day whereas you?ll only be out with a gun for an hour or two.

Trapping is permitted under general licence.

As always read the terms of the licence carefully to make sure you are complying with its conditions.
