The home of Shooting Times and Sporting Gun

How do I stop friends ‘muscling in’ on my shooting?

Q: I have built up a reasonable amount of land on which I shoot pigeons and a couple of pals at the gun club now keep asking me to take them decoying.

I’m reluctant to do this because one, or both, might try and ‘muscle in’ on the shooting once they get introduced to the farmers. I am in a bit of a dilemma here, how would you tackle the problem?

A: This can be a tricky one. Obviously, a real mate would not try to nick your shooting behind your back, but a problem could arise, if, for some reason, you fall out.

To safeguard yourself, make it clear to all of your farmers that any friends you may call on to help you control the pigeons, will only be accompanying you, and not shooting on their own.
