Q: What’s the best way to keep my two ferrets warm on nights with hard frost? I drape an old carpet over the hutch but I’m not sure if that’s enough. What measures do you take?
A: Ferrets seem to handle the cold much better than they do the heat but if there’s going to be a hard frost at night I put extra bedding in their sleeping quarters to be on the safe side.
I also cover the hutch with old carpets to soften the blow of the bitter cold. Ferrets tend to keep one another warm in such a situation. However if you think even those measures are not enough then perhaps you should try insulating the hutch.
