EDWARD COOK says: Hobs as a rule don’t seem to be as mentally geared up for the job of killing rats as jills.
I have jills I use for rats that are demons when hunting the ‘scaly-tails’.
Maybe it’s something in the female psyche?
Jills also, in my mind, being that much smaller, are more capable of getting to places where even a game, small hob cant go.
I own some awesome rabbit hunting hobs that have bolted quite a few foxes in their time, but the same ferrets won’t go to ground on a rat.
I tend not to worry about rat bites too much but an antiseptic wash can be useful to have in your bag. Having some antibiotics to hand when needed will help too.
