A fair few were frozen solid but a lot of others were still soft and had gone a bit ?wiffy?.

As far as I?m aware the freezer is working okay.

Is there a procedure to follow when freezing so many birds down at once?

Pigeon shooting

The problem with putting large numbers of shot birds into the freezer in one go, is that they inevitably end up several layers deep, and the ones in the middle are insulated from the cold.

The problem is exacerbated if you have not fully cooled the pigeons before putting them in the freezer.

On really hot days, it is tempting to just tip the bag into the freezer as soon as you get home, but if you do, it is essential you only stack them a maximum of two layers deep.
