The Chiltern Gundog Society held a spaniel working test at Burnt Platt Wood, Oxon, by kind permission of Richard Butler-Creag.

The test took place in beech woods and pines on a very warm and sunny day. The ground was thick with dead bracken and bramble, new shoots and bluebells just appearing.

Judges Ben Randall and Steve Russell were charged with judging 50 dogs that were running in puppy, novice and open classes.

Every dog was tested for steadiness and hunting ability, with shots and two retrieves.
