PETER BLATCH

Good fresh knuckle bones with loads of raw meat to nag at with their teeth has always got to be the best.

I went back to raw beef bones after taking a dog to the vet for its annual booster jabs and was asked if I would participate in a survey regarding the condition of dog’s teeth.

After giving all the dogs in my kennels raw knuckle bones twice a month, the condition of their teeth improved tremendously.

I no longer bother with raw hide chews and the like but now buy beef knuckle bones in bulk direct from a butcher – being fresh they can be frozen down to ensure I always have a supply to hand.
