Salmon to be brought up in primary schools before eventually being released into the wild

Salmon in north Wales are to be given a head start in life — they will be brought up in three Welsh primary schools, before eventually being released into the wild. The project, run by the Environment Agency, aims to teach the children about the life cycle and environment of salmon, while also improving stocks of the fish in the area. Pupils will get the chance to look after salmon eggs until they hatch into fry, which will be taken to a local hatchery after a month. The children will be able to visit until the fish are released into local rivers.
