Countryside Alliance launches Rural Manifesto

The Rural Manifesto will call on the next government to repeal the 2004 Hunting Act

The Countryside Alliance (CA) has launched an appeal urging members and supporters to help fund its Rural Manifesto campaign leading up to and beyond the next General Election.

The Rural Manifesto will call on the next government to repeal the 2004 Hunting Act. It will also champion fieldsports, support British farmers and producers and make the case for enabling all children to gain a practical understanding of the countryside.

The CA’s chairman, Labour MP Kate Hoey, who launched the appeal on 20 March, said: “It has never been more important that the CA has the ability to influence public, political and media opinion. The CA is the only organisation campaigning for repeal of the Hunting Act and, though repeal would be a great victory in itself, it would also protect all other country pursuits for a generation and open the way for policies that address the real needs of rural communities.

We cannot waste this unique opportunity, which is why the CA is calling for the support of everyone who loves the countryside.”
