The Heather Trust and Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust will be working together again for the second Golden Plover Award for Moorland Management, which will be presented at the Scottish Game Fair in 2014.

The Golden Plover Award aims to promote sustainable and innovative moorland management based upon anything from grouse production to carbon storage. In 2013, the award was presented to Edinglassie (Donside), a moor with a strong track record of scientific research into medicated grit, peat conservation and tick control, as well as producing an enviable harvest of grouse.

In 2014, the Golden Plover Award will tie-in to new initiatives such as the Wildlife Estates Scotland scheme. Applications for the award are now welcome on behalf of gamekeepers, farmers, syndicates and estates who have an interest in the future of upland management.
