Deactivated Firearms – new proposals

BASC has stated it is deeply concerned by the Government’s proposals contained within the Controls on Deactivated Firearms consultation.

BASC has recommended that any decision which affects the ownership of deactivated firearms should be deferred until the National Ballistics Intelligence Service has submitted its report. BASC’s Bill Harriman said he was astounded that a 20-year policy on heritage firearms could suddenly be overturned: “These proposals have been written without any attempt being made to ascertain the extent of the criminal use of reactivated firearms.”
