Claims that badger setts had been disturbed on land in Forthampton, on the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire border, are being investigated by West Mercia and Gloucestershire Police. Specialist wildlife crime offi cers have also visited the scene to conduct inquiries.

A police spokesperson said: “Work is ongoing to establish if these were carried out by anyone connected with the land or by others without the landowners’ knowledge.”

According to the website This is Gloucestershire, the complaint was filed by Jay Tiernan, from Stop the Cull, who allegedly discovered the filled-in badger setts.
