Forty more badger cull zones could be created over the next four years if the pilot culls are successful, according to DEFRA secretary Owen Paterson. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Mr Paterson said it might take 20 to 25 years of “hard culling” to reduce the incidence of bovine TB to the target of fewer than 0.2 per cent of herds each year.
