JOHN BIDWELL says:
Speaking from a shooter's perspective - and not as a professional coach - I would say good instruction is vital if you want to improve your shooting and achieve anything like full potential.
It's possible, of course, to raise the level of your performance by shooting lots of cartridges at lots of targets but if you're not practicing the right things, all you will do is compound your faults.
And once they become ingrained, it can be the devil's own job getting back on track again.
Someone once said that good instruction lasting a number of hours might be expensive but it's a darned sight cheaper than blowing money on endless cartridges and practice and not learning anything.
