I never thought it would happen to me after so many years shooting, but I have now developed ?trigger freeze?. Some days it?s so bad I literally can?t fire a shot. What?s causing it, and can the affliction be cured?

Sorry to hear that you've been affected like this because it's a condition you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy.
Triggering troubles of this kind can be caused by all manner of things. First there's the psychological element to take into account but having talked to a lot of people with similar problems, physical factors also play a big part in it.
For instance it can be triggered by excessive recoil and even the simplest of things such as an ill-fitting gun.
With this is mind you could do a lot worse than talk to top FITASC Sporting shooter, David Izzard, who understands the problems more than most and actually makes recoil systems for guns (under the name ISIS) that can ease the problem for sufferers. Contact him on 01763 837140.
In the meantime, don't get too downhearted. I know it's easier said than done but worrying about things will only make matters worse. Try to stay positive - a lot of sufferers actually get through it and go on to enjoy their shooting again.
No doubt there will be a lot of Sporting Gun readers out there with first hand experience of this annoying affliction - if so we would like to hear how you coped with, and beat, it.
