I haven?t got a problem with this but I want to make sure he is competent enough to kill birds cleanly before letting him go pigeon shooting from a hide.

Can you suggest the best options?

PIGEON SHOOTING

My advice would be to hone his skills on clays, preferably under the watchful eye of a competent coach.

Also, don?t let him tackle live birds until he can comfortably handle at least a 28 bore, but ideally a 20.

A .410 in the hands of a young boy, does not, in my opinion, show enough respect to the bird.
