Holt’s Auctioneers' senior valuer will take part in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 sponsored cycle ride to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Roland Elworthy (pictured), a keen cyclist who has described himself as “fat, 50 and badly behaved”, will ride on his hand-built Italian Bottecchia Emme2 racing bike.

Roland is a keen supporter of Macmillan Cancer Support having witnessed first hand its work in helping his mother and a close friend while they received cancer treatment.

Roland said: “My doctor has assured me that even though I currently resemble a corpulent porpoise there is a lithe and sinewy cyclist ready to burst out! Any sponsorship you can give to such a worthy charity as Macmillan Cancer Support will help me up those steep Surrey hills and across the finish line. Thank you so much for your support.”

The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 celebrates the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It has ambitions to become the largest fundraising cycling event in the world.

The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 takes place on August 2 and begins in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London. It follows 100 miles of closed, traffic-free roads through the central and west areas of the city, then heads out into the Surrey countryside before returning to London to finish on The Mall.
