DEFRA has announced that preliminary tests for foot-and-mouth disease on livestock at the two latest sites are negative.
DEFRA said an epidemiology report on the outbreak published today “concludes that the risk of disease spread outside of the Surrey Protection and Surveillance Zones is now very low.”
Protection zones were set up yesterday around the farm in Romney Marsh and at Chessington World of Adventures.
Government vets say initial tests have found no trace of FMD, but more tests are needed to be certain of the results.
