Hunt photographer Daniel Hague volunteered to have his entire body hair waxed in front of a 60-strong audience at the VWH puppy show
The VWH Hunt raised more than £2,500 for Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance through an unconventional fundraising event.
Daniel Hague, photographer and son of VWH huntsman Philip Hague, volunteered to have his entire body hair waxed in front of a 60-strong audience at the VWH puppy show.
The challenge originated after a hunt subscriber required air ambulance services following a fall, highlighting the charity’s importance to the hunting community.
Initially agreeing to the waxing only if it raised a minimum of £1,000, Daniel was surprised when he found out hunt supporters Lucy Kernon and Mark Whitfield had secretly established a fundraising page.
“The first I knew that it was actually going to happen was when one of the hunt supporters contacted me to say they’d donated enough to push the fundraising over the £1,000 threshold,” Daniel explained. “At which point there was no backing out!”
Professional waxer Holly performed the depilation while tactfully avoiding “sensitive areas” – much to the relief of both the participant and spectators.
The Countryside Alliance’s Polly Portwin praised Daniel and the hunting community’s dedication to supporting the air ambulance service. “Anyone who has ever witnessed the air ambulance in action will recognise the importance of this fabulous charity which hunts across the country regularly fundraise for,” she said.
