New research by the GWCT has shown that a voluntary shooting ban by fieldsports enthusiasts in the north of England is helping to conserve blackgrouse. The Trust?s Dr Phil Warren described the ban, which was implemented along with habitat improvement and predator control, as ?very effective?, and said that incidents of their being shot by mistake were now infrequent. He said: ?This effort needs to continue to encourage settlement of dispersing females, to help to increase numbers and range.?
