In the evolving world of deerstalking, technology is transforming traditional practices into more efficient and informed endeavours. Among the modern tools available, trail cameras are becoming a common asset, providing invaluable insights into animal movements and behaviours.

Paul Childerley, gamekeeper and founder of Childerley Sporting, highlights how ZEISS Secacam trail cameras have changed his stalking approach:

“From the moment I began using the ZEISS Trail Cameras their impact was significant. The cameras are robust, enduring even the harshest weather conditions, and deliver exceptional image quality, particularly at night”. Childerley, who has used various trail cameras, finds ZEISS products unmatched in performance.

“Whether busy, travelling, or at a shoot, I have constant updates of any activity in my grounds”.

The integrated ZEISS Secacam App enhances functionality, allowing remote management of multiple cameras via a mobile phone. Users can check battery levels, view image galleries, and receive notifications whenever a camera is triggered. This capability is crucial for monitoring predators, which pose challenges during breeding seasons.

The ZEISS Activity Hub offers insightful reports on animal activity, revealing the times specific species of deer pass in front of each camera. This feature aids in tracking deer movements across different sites. For instance, it has helped Childerley monitor Fallow deer in areas that are hard to spot, especially at night. The app also allows filtering images by species, streamlining the review process.

Paul goes on to explain other use cases; “My trail cameras also have a huge part to play in security. In this industry we have a lot of expensive (and appealing!) equipment and the fact that I’m constantly connected to these cameras, with instant notifications of any activity, means I know straight away if anything untoward is happening

ZEISS has also introduced SecaTrack, a tracking system that monitors the camera’s location if it is stolen, sending GPS coordinates every 10 minutes, even if the camera is turned off.

ZEISS has just launched the Secacam 1 trail camera priced at just £109.99, making wildlife monitoring accessible for all hunters. This latest camera delivers images and videos of the quality you would expect from optics expert ZEISS, along with quick and simple set-up and confidence in connectivity, thanks to a multi-network SIM card.

The full ZEISS Secacam range now includes accessories such as solar panels, security cases, and rechargeable battery packs, ensuring there’s a solution for all set-ups.

By offering real-time data and imagery, ZEISS trail cameras empower hunters to strategise effectively, enhancing their success in the field.
