Obviously my question is ‘how important is it to get a bit of movement into a pattern’?
PIGEON SHOOTING
Peter Theobald
At this time of year, when pigeons are feeding on oilseed rape, or indeed any time when the birds are feeding on tall crops, movement within your pattern is almost essential.
Incoming pigeons rely on the flash of white wing bars to locate the feeding flock.
Also, a flapper is a powerful indicator that the bird feels safe to join the flock.
In situations where flighting birds can see your set-up from a long way off, ie on drillings, movement is less important, though it does seem to get birds committed much quicker.
