Is it possible to train ferrets to get through purse nets when they’re fairly young, or is it something they learn to do with experience?
FERRETS
Edward Cook
A purse net mesh shouldn’t be any smaller or bigger than two inches which means that regardless of training, a large hob ferret will not squeeze through the mesh without knocking the net and displacing it.
That said it is worth getting ferrets used to nets and you can do this by placing them on gutter pipes in the play area of their hutch.
Doing this means that smaller ferrets will learn to squeeze through the mesh, and it will also help large ferrets get used to having to wait for a net to be lifted before they can leave the hole.
However they soon learn the ropes in the field!
