The purpose of Shooting Times’s new award is to highlight the incredible contribution made by fowlers across the UK.
Editor Patrick Galbraith explained: “Wildfowlers are possibly the finest ambassadors that shooting has. Their conservation work, appreciation of the landscape they shoot over and enthusiasm for encouraging others into the sport is something they should be very proud of.
“Just as importantly, there is nothing more exciting you can do at five in the morning than lie in a ditch on a muddy foreshore waiting for wigeon to whistle overhead or the greylags to leave their roosts and come inland for the day.”

An essential guide to getting started in this challenging sport
Clubs are encouraged to write to patrick.galbraith@timeinc.com, explaining in no more than 200 words why their wildfowling club deserves to win, whether it is by encouraging young people to get involved in wildfowling, promoting conservation, being an active part of the community and promoting stakeholder engagement, or retaining members and working to ensure that wildfowling has a bright future.
Patrick will head up the judging panel, alongside wildfowling experts George Downing and Mark Greenhough. The winning club will receive a certificate, a taxidermy goose and a visit from our Editor, with £300 put behind the bar courtesy of Shooting Times.
The closing date for entries is 31 March 2018.
