Are my rabbiting purse nets ok for working in cover?

Rabbiting purse nets: I buy ready-made 4ft purse nets which work fine on grass and other open ground but I seem to lose a lot of rabbits in any cover. Is this usual, or am I not setting them correctly?

RABBITING

It?s not often I say this but it sounds to me as though your nets are a bit too big for working in cover.

Nets of this size (18 meshes wide) tend not to purse up very well in cover which is why I prefer to use those of 3ft 6in consisting of 18 x 2in mesh wide and 21 meshes long.

These can be relied upon to do a really good job both over open burrows and those within a dense blackthorn hedge.

As I?ve said many times before the material used in a net can also make a difference so, if possible, use hemp, which tends to snag less frequently than nylon.
