The pins can and often do go on for years with pitting, but if the gun is layed-up and you?re not shooting it for a while, you might consider having it done.

You may eventually start having misfires where the pin isn?t hitting the cap on the cartridge hard enough to make it go off ? this is when I get mine done.

If you think you can do it yourself, take the stock off and have a good look around and see what you think.

It?s not for the inexperienced but most engineers should be able to do it with preparation, care and the right tools.

You have to make sure, however, that the pin isn?t too long when done ? it has to be perfect.
