Neil McIntosh has been a practising veterinary surgeon for 38 years and, until recently, was a partner in an 18 vet practice that carried out all types of veterinary work; farm, small animal, equine, import/export, police and working dogs.

Neil has provided veterinary content for Sporting Gun since 2010 and has contributed a weekly Pet Page to the Daily Record for over 21 years. He currently also writes for the Greenock Telegraph, Largs and Millport News and other publications. Neil is a keen and enthusiastic beater, picker-up and shooter, and it is important to him that he eats what he shoots.
