Women in Shooting
Industry-leading manufacturer of fine shotgun cartridges for game and clay shooters, Eley Hawk, is the proud sponsor of some of the most talented game and clay shooters in the country, from up-and-coming talent, and national and world champions to legends of the sport. Within this elite group, women are extremely well represented, showing Eley’s undoubted support. Amber Rutter, Leah Southall, Fern Lancaster, Annalise Evans, Lorriane Greening, and Phoebe Bodley, to name a few, all represent Eley Hawk in shooting competitions around the UK and beyond and are elite shooters within their chosen disciplines.
Furthermore, two shooters have earned Team GB a place in this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris, Amber Rutter and Lucy Hall. The then-teenager Lucy Hall clinched the first quota spot for Team GB for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at the 2022 European Shooting Championships, securing a silver medal in the senior ladies’ Trap and bronze in the team Trap event in Larnaca, Cyprus. After missing Tokyo 2020 following a positive COVID-19 test two days before the Opening Ceremony, Amber Rutter was determined not to let anything deter her from her pursuit of Gold in Paris. Amber went on to claim her Paris 2024 Olympic quota spot for Team GB when she won Gold at the 2022 European Championships Shotgun title in women’s skeet.
In honour of Amber’s achievements in securing her quota place for the 2016 Olympic Games, and her amazing talent, Eley Hawk launched the Amber cartridges. The Amber cartridge is specifically designed to meet her exacting requirements, and since 2016 she has been seen shooting them at all major competitions including the Rio Olympic Games 2016. The cartridge is a favourite among many women clay shooters across the country.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Inspiring the next generation and looking to preserve the future of the sport is another important facet of Eley Hawk’s philosophy. The recent launch of the Cartridges for Colts initiative, in partnership with the CPSA, is one of many initiatives Eley is implementing. As part of this initiative, Eley Hawk will be gifting young shooting talents at most major events a special gift of Eley Hawk cartridges, with the view that this will help youth shooters on their competition journey.
At Eley Hawk, talent pathway is another key facet of their desire to inspire the next generation. The company is passionate about supporting the next generation of talent from a young age, empowering them to pursue their dreams and excel in competitive shooting as they climb the ranks.
Of the Eley Hawk sponsored shooters, many were signed when they were under the age of 16: Amber Rutter, Lucy Hall, Leah Southall, Fern Lancaster, Isobel Cartlidge, William Gilbert, Cory Doble, Phoebe Bodley-Scott, Archie Alexander, Tristan Hockey, and Daniel King.
