In gundog tests, I have called my cocker in after the shot to send for blind retrieves. Can I do this in a gundog trial?

The judge will advise you where to try from to attempt any retrieve.
Blind retrieves usually occur when the dog on the other side has failed or game has been shot out of sight by a flanking or forward Gun.
You will probably be moved by the judge, with your dog at heel, into a good position to try for the retrieve.
However, if your dog has stopped to shot during its hunting, but has not seen the fall of a bird shot within range, then the judge, after giving you directions, may just ask you to send from there.
Listen carefully to the judge and, unless you are asked to call the dog, send it from where it is.
