On Jan 6th 2005, three spaniels undertook the Kennel Club’s Working Gundog Certificate second stage. The venue was Raglington Farm, Nr Wickham, Hants.
The assessors were Christine Bridgwater and Mike Cleverley and the Keeper Rob Purkiss. Thanks must go to the assessors, the keeper, and the Guns for allowing us to undertake this certificate on a normal shooting day.
The importance of this event was that all three spaniels were the first in their respective breeds to qualify. The spaniels represented were a clumber, a Sussex and a Welsh springer; incidentally all three were “home bred” and all have shown.

It’s the most difficult of subjects but here Tom Jones faces up to the sad reality of losing a beloved gundog and realises just how much they give us.
