Will a poor gundog test affect my Working Gundog Certificate?

I am considering trying for my Working Gundog Certificate (WGC) at Chatsworth in a novice working test. If I get a low score on a test, will that mean a fail for the WGC as well?

WORKING GUNDOG CERTIFICATE

A low or zero mark for a test does not automatically mean you will fail the WGC assessment; it all depends on why the dog was penalised — it may have been a technicality or simply bad luck.

On a shooting day, you are free to move and help your dog; in a test, this is not the case.

You should, therefore, be assessed against the criteria in the WGC handbook over your work during the whole day.

As such, the judges/assessors will bear in mind the following thought: “Would this partnership make a useful contribution over the course of a shooting day?”
