Keen Shots under 18 can test their prowess this summer by entering the Young Shots clay shooting competitions at the GWCT Scottish Game Fair 3-5 July and the CLA Game Fair 31 July - 2 August
Participants will shoot a 40-bird English Sporting layout at the GWCT Scottish Game Fair and a 20-bird compact layout at the CLA Game Fair. Winners will be the top scorer at each event and there will be a shoot off in the event of a tie.
Both champions will receive a tweed jacket and breeks from Cordings worth £750, a free subscription to The Field magazine and £200 in cash. They will also be presented with a silver trophy dated 1923, donated by Holt’s Auctioneers, who are sponsoring both the Young Shots clay shooting competitions.

Is it talent or practice that determines if you are an average Shot or a great one — and could…
The first event will be held on the Sunday of the GWCT Scottish Game Fair, which runs from Friday, 3 until Sunday, 5 July. Entrants up to age 18 register at the entry tent and pay a £13 entry fee.
The second competition at the CLA Game Fair, which runs from Friday, 31 July until Sunday, 2 August will be held on the Shooting Line over the three days of the show and is open to participants up to the age of 16 and costs £15 to enter.
Nicholas Holt of Holt’s Auctioneers commented: “Young Shots are the future of shooting in the UK and we are delighted to be sponsoring these two exciting competitions which will go a long way to raising the profile of shooting among young people and to encourage more of them to take up this fantastic sport.”
