Barney White-Spunner to present Purdey Awards 2013

The awards ceremony, which will reward shoots committed to conservation projects on their land, will take place at Purdey’s HQ at Audley House, Mayfair, on November 21.

Barney White-Spunner said: “I was delighted to accept James Purdey & Sons’ invitation to present the 2013 Purdey Awards for Game and Conservation. This annual competition focuses public attention on the close links that exist between shooting and conservation, and how shoots invest heavily in creating, improving, and maintaining game habitats. This work benefits many more species besides game birds by improving the bio-diversity of the whole British countryside.”

Richard Purdey, the organiser of the Purdey Awards, said: “In the two years since Barney White-Spunner was appointed its executive chairman, the Countryside Alliance has rarely been out of the news, as he successfully re-energises the many facets of this vital organisation, and leading its work in representing the interests of the whole countryside community. Our awards are an established part of the annual cycle of Britain’s countryside events and we are delighted that Barney White-Spunner has agreed to be our 2013 presenter.”
