BTO celebrates 100 years of bird ringing

To celebrate 100 years of bird ringing, the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) has published 'Bird Ringing: A Concise Guide,' which explains how and why birds are ringed

Over the past 100 years, 36 million birds have been fitted with unique numbered rings, allowing scientists at the BTO to learn more about their movements.The BTO’s head of ringing, Jacquie Clark, said: “As a result of ringing we have learned a lot but there is still a lot we don’t know and we look forward to the next 100 years.”
