Canine Partners Clay Shooting Challenge raises £23,000

The event took place on Saturday 8 September at Holywell House near Swanmore, Hampshire by kind permission of The Earl and Countess of Clarendon.

Thirty teams consisting of four guns took part in this annual fixture in the shooting calendar, which was once again attended by Canine Partners Patron HRH The Duke of Gloucester.

The competition is made up of six drives to include flying gnats – shooting specially designed radio controlled model aircraft targets.

The competition was won by Team Stonehaven, who were presented their prize by the Duke of Gloucester and the Dowager Countess of Clarendon.

Competitors were treated to a hearty breakfast before they started and then a home reared and bred wild boar spit roast upon completion, courtesy of the Collet family, as well as wines from ES Fine Wines.

There was also a talk given by Steve Brookes who was injured whilst serving in the Royal Navy, about how canine partner Kizzie is helping him to lead an independent life.

Isabel Campbell, director of fundraising and marketing, said: ?For the eighth year running this event was a great success from both a competition and fundraising perspective.

We feel very privileged to be able to hold this event at Holywell House, which makes a wonderful backdrop to any sporting event, and thank the Earl and Countess for being gracious hosts once again.?
