More than 120 women gathered at Holland & Holland Shooting Grounds in April for the UK’s largest women-only clay shooting event of the year so far. Organised by Wilde & Glorious, with BASC, the day offered categories for all experience levels and competitors enjoyed a full morning of clays.

Abbie Wilson was high Gun on a score of 78. Panna Brenner headed the intermediate class, Dionne Jenkins won the novice category, and Chelsea King was best BASC member.

Organiser Katie Absalom said: “The day celebrated community, sport and diversity within fieldsports.” It raised more than £1,000 for cancer charity CoppaFeel. After shooting, guests were treated to wild meat canapés, followed by a prize-giving and a display from gundog trainer Ben Randall.

Michelle Nudds of BASC added: “It was an absolute pleasure for BASC to collaborate with Wilde & Glorious and support the Ladies’ Cup. The event perfectly captured the diversity of women across our community, not only in experience levels but also in the range of backgrounds and regions represented.

“These events create invaluable opportunities to build professional networks, share knowledge and enjoy a fantastic day. They also provide a relaxed and supportive environment for newcomers to try clayshooting with expert tuition.” The event attracted cross-party political interest, with several MPs showing their support for women in shooting and enjoying their day on the clays
