Andy Richardson, a former gamekeeper, has won the Top Shot award in the Scottish Gamekeepers Associations SGA) 2010 photography competition. The winning picture (below) is of Donna Clark working her pointers and setters on a grouse moor near Kelso, in the Scottish Borders.
SGA chairman Alex Hogg, who presented Andy Richardson with the trophy at this years Scottish Game Fair at Scone Palace, said of the picture: The colours of the hills and heather, the beauty of the animals they work with and the evident pleasure gamekeepers get from being out there working comes across in this photograph. It hints at some of the satisfaction keepers get from putting in long days during so many months of the year. The picture is well composed and Andy Richardson, who clearly understands the working countryside as well as good photography, is a worthy winner.
