CRT condemns Glasto
The Countryside Restoration Trust has written to the owner and organiser of the Glastonbury Festival, Michael Eavis, asking him to change the date of next year’s festival to August, for the sake of the local wildlife.
CRT Chairman Robin page said: “As both a lover of rock music and wildlife I am appalled that the Glastonbury Festival has again been held this year at a crucial time in the breeding cycle of farmland birds.
With such an invasion of people, noise and light, many nests could have been disturbed.
As a result eggs and young could have been deserted, leaving them vulnerable to cold, starvation or predation.”
