The Deer Initiative’s Best Practice Guidance was launched at the Country Land & Business Association’s (CLA) headquarters in London on 2 December.

The guidance sets out how to manage deer in areas where populations are high. The Deer Initiative’s Jane Rabagliati, said: “Thanks to our partner organisations and the support of the Deer Commission for Scotland, we now have this comprehensive and practical guidance for landowners in England and Wales.”

The CLA’s William Worsley said: “We were delighted to host the launch of these new guidelines in which the CLA has played a key part. Where deer population density is too high, they overgraze the land and damage trees. With the new guidance, land managers can manage local populations to limit this damage.”
