<strong>Spending cuts announced</strong>
Natural England (NE) and the Environment Agency (EA) will lose more than one-fifth of their budgets over the next four years as part of recently revealed cuts to DEFRA. The EA and NE will see their budgets slashed by 21 per cent to £652million and £155million respectively. The Forestry Commission faces a 25 per cent cut to £33million, while National Parks and Broads Authorities are less affected, with a 13 per cent reduction to £46.6million. DEFRA said the budget is intended ?to support British farming and encourage sustainable food production.?
