The RSPB has said that Europes population of red kites is in serious decline. There has been a big fall in numbers on the birds main wintering ground and among breeding pairs in Spain, France and Germany. The RSPB believes that the cause is intensive farming methods in Eastern Europe and the widespread use of poison. The UK, however, is home to seven per cent of the birds population.
