Gamekeeper admits to shooting and attempted murder

Mr Willett was left with severe facial injuries, while Mrs Dixon, who runs a mobile hairdressing business, also suffered injuries.

Appearing at Lincoln Crown Court on Wednesday, the 46-year-old Alford man admitted attempting to kill love rival Neil Willett from Louth.

He also admitted possessing a Beretta shotgun in a public place with ammunition.

Both charges relate to the shotgun incident on Saturday, June 21, last year, outside Shirley Dixon’s rented address, off Bluestone Heath Road, in South Ormsby.

Following the shooting, armed officers combed the area using tracker dogs and Dixon was later found several miles away not far from an abandoned car.

Mr Willett was taken to Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital for surgery. He later received treatment in the hospital’s intensive therapy unit before being moved to Lincoln County Hospital.

At the time of the shooting detectives said it had been a “shocking incident for a quaint, quiet, little village”.

Dixon was remanded in custody and will be sentenced today.
