The Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) have launched a new ambassadorial programme which aims to reach a new, younger demographic and promote game and wildlife management as an essential part of conservation.
The GWCT hopes the five new ambassadors – Hannah Russell, Marina Gibson, Jordan Rigby, Tom Wood and Tristan Phipps – will reach wider audiences and demonstrate to those unfamiliar with the Trust the role it plays in improving biodiversity and nature recovery across the UK.
Hannah Russel is the author of 19 bestselling children’s books; Marina Gibson is a certified Fly Fishing International (FFI); Jordan Rigby is a landowner and fieldsport enthusiast; Tom Wood is a former England rugby international and now a keen fisherman, archer and stalker; and Tristan Phipp is a big game outfitter and member of the ‘Made In Chelsea’ cast.
The ambassadors will be introduced to GWCT projects from Auchnerran in Scotland to trout and salmon research centres in Dorset. Jordan Rigby commented: “I am driven by a deep love for nature, a commitment to lifelong learning and a dedication to persevering our environment for future generations. It is an honour to contribute to this vital mission.”
Hannah Russell added: ‘I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust in this new role. I enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors throughout the year, especially during game season when I can be out with the dogs. I find it rewarding to expand my knowledge and share information with others about game and wildlife management, emphasizing its importance for nature conservation.”
Upheavals within two prominent animal welfare charities have sparked concerns about their governance and what goes on behind the scenes.
