Scottish country store, The House of Bruar, scored a perfect 100 out of 100 for its pork sausages at the Q Guild Smithfield Butchery Awards.


The House of Bruar have won the Q Guild Smithfield Butchery Awards trophy for the second time.

The Scottish company beat off competition from across the UK to be crowned with the coveted award for best pork sausage.

The winning sausage, which scored a perfect 100 by the guild judges in the traditional pork sausage category, was the delicious honey roast pork. The sausages are handmade using the free range Scottish pork by the master butcher Paul Higgins and his team.

Master Butcher, Paul Higgins said: “I am extremely proud and delighted to have won the award for The Best Pork Sausage in Great Britain.”

Since winning, they have seen an influx of orders as everyone tries to get their hands on some award-winning sausages before Christmas.

“We are hoping that we will be able to keep up with demand. Our mail order business has seen an influx of orders since the news broke about the award,” Paul said.

The House of Bruar also received gold awards for its venison sausages, unsmoked back bacon and sweet cured bacon.

The House of Bruar is located 11 miles North of Pitlochry on the A9 (the main route through Scotland) and opened its butchery in 2010.

The Q Guild represent the highest quality butchers and independent meat retailers in the UK.
