All of us will be familiar with the phrase ‘Bum, belly, beak, bang’, but where would you have begun to aim if this impressive bird had flown towards your peg?

The Reeves pheasant, shot by Brian Hanratty during a Boxing Day annual driven shoot in Drumconrath, in the Republic of Ireland, measured an astonishing 75 inches (6.25m) in length.

All of us are guilty of embellishment with our shooting stories, but this really does give a new meaning to the concept of tall tales.
