Largest female-only, clayshooting event in world to take place on 11 June 2016

National Ladies' Shooting Day is taking place at 24 shooting grounds across England, Wales and Scotland - and it's open to both experienced shooters and beginners …

This is the second year of the event and it has already attracted impressive numbers – more than 1,000 women will be taking up arms on 11th June 2016. It isn’t parochial either – attracting an international female contingent from countries including the USA, Holland and Dubai.

However, perhaps this interest isn’t so surprising given the increasing numbers of women taking up shooting.

BASC reports rise in female membership

The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) reports a 33% increase in the number of women joining in the past four years and currently lists nearly 10, 000 female members. In response to demand, there is now a women’s section on the BASC website.

Commented Christopher Graffius, Director of Communications:”BASC has noticed a dramatic increase in the number of ladies taking up shooting. This is an excellent development which will benefit shooting in the future.”

The 2016 National Ladies Shooting Day has been organised by The Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club, whose founder, Victoria Knowles-Lacks, set up the club to make shooting more inclusive and attractive to women from all walks of life, both novices and the more experienced. It’s a winning formula certainly as the club has welcomed more than 8,000 members.

Impressive sponsors

Reports Victoria: “Interest in this year’s event has been phenomenal already. We’ve attracted some amazing sponsors – Browning Shoguns, Fur Feather & Fin, Hiho Silver Jewellery, Alan Paine and Dubarry of Ireland – and with just less than two month’s still to go, we’ve already had so many interested women sign up, many of whom have never shot before”.

How to enter

Events are priced at £39.50 per person and include gun hire, 30 cartridges, 30 clays, ear and eye protection, and expert tuition from fully qualified instructors. No experience or gun is required and all guests will be entered in to a raffle to win some incredible prizes, thanks to the event’s incredible sponsors.

If you’re interested there is still space left at some of the shooting grounds participating. For more information on National Ladies Shooting Day click here.
