Mystery surrounds eagle death
<strong>Dead golden eagle found in Aberdeenshire had suffered two broken legs</strong>
A post-mortem has concluded that a golden eagle found dead in Aberdeenshire had suffered two broken legs due to trauma ?that could be consistent with an injury caused by a spring-type trap?.
The bird, which was discovered near Aboyne in May, had been fitted with a satellite transmitter by the RSPB in 2011, allowing the charity to track its movements immediately prior to its death.
RSPB?s Scotland director Stuart Housden said: ?Anyone who cares about our wildlife will be disgusted by what appears to be an appalling crime, and the lengths taken to hide the facts from discovery.?
