Figures released by Suffolk Constabulary show that the number of guns held in the county has risen by 40 per cent in five years.
IANSA believes the more legally held firearms there are, the more chance there is of them finding their way into illegal hands. ?The idea that sporting rifles filter into the criminal market is nonsense,? said Mr Harriman. ?Converted blank firers and starting pistols are the most common guns used. It?s increasingly rare to find real firearms in forensic casework.?
