New Government meets Hunting Act commitment

Fieldsports supporters last week welcomed the news that the Government plans to bring forward a motion on a free vote on repeal of the 2004 Hunting Act. The move was announced last week as part of a 30-page document released last Thursday, 20 May, outlining the coalition Government’s plans for the next five years.

In the document, which covered a range of topics from the economy, defence and immigration, through to fieldsports and the Olympics, the Government stated, categorically: We will bring forward a motion on a free vote enabling the House of Commons to express its view on the repeal of the Hunting Act.
