The Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust (GWT) awards recognise the incredible support, hard work and investment of time those in gamekeeping professions often receive from family members and close friends.
Since 2010, the Lady Scott Award has been given annually to a partner, spouse, family member or friend of a gamekeeper, while the GWT Young Gamekeeper of the Year Award is presented to young family members who provide support and help with a range of tasks.
Recipients of the awards are nominated by members of the keepering professions, shoots and estates, after which a panel of GWT trustees reviews them.
Helen Benson, the charity’s CEO, said “The nature of our work means we are often assisting people through challenging incidents and receiving nominations for our awards is a very different kind of contact. It’s really heartening to read the nominations. People often pour their affection into them and it’s lovely reading them.”
The deadline for this year’s nominations is 25 June 2024. Nominations should be sent by email or post to the GWT at enquiries@ thegamekeepers welfaretrust.com or Keeper’s Cottage, Tanfield Lodge, West Tanfield, Ripon, North Yorkshire HG4 5LE.
